Granada Cathedral, officially known as Catedral de Granada, is the most recognizable landmark in the city. The cathedral sits on the eastern side of Parque Central and has been a central part of Granada’s identity for centuries.
The original church on this site dates back to the colonial period, although the current structure has been rebuilt several times following fires and pirate attacks throughout the city’s history.
Today the cathedral’s bright yellow façade makes it one of the most photographed buildings in Nicaragua. Inside, the church features elegant arches, religious artwork, and a peaceful atmosphere.
One of the highlights of visiting the cathedral is the rooftop terrace, where visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Granada’s colonial rooftops, the surrounding volcanoes, and Lake Nicaragua.
